How to search the Feral.org.au database
Quick Search can be used to perform a simple search for all articles for a species, or by keyword. With the keyword search, you can use standard search operators like AND, OR, NOT and ” ” quotation marks for complete phrases.
If you want to search for ‘animal pest alert’ in the title you need to use quotation marks “animal pest alert” otherwise it will return all records with animal OR pest OR alert in the title.
Advanced Search allows you to do more detailed searched for references by common fields such as Title, Author, Reference Type, Keywords, Abstract, Institution, Region and Journal Name. You can search on combinations of these and the same boolean operators as the Quick Search to refine your search parameters.
You can also choose how many records to display and how you would like to sort your search results. If the search returns more than the number of records to display, it will present paging navigation with ‘< previous’ and ‘next >’ links.
If you wish to use the search results for your research, you can use the Export as a CSV file option to download a file compatible with MS Excel. At this point the images will not be included with the file, so you may wish to download these separately.
